Gwen Stefani: Blake Shelton isn’t my only source of divorce relief
Gwen Stefani did not want to go public with her and Blake Shelton’s new relationship, but she had to because someone else gabbed about the affair before they confirmed it.
Singer Gwen Stefani has “loads of people” to thank for helping her through the divorce process.
The 46-year-old No Doubt frontwoman went public about her current romantic relationship with The Voice US co-star Blake Shelton on 4 November (15), just weeks after she saw her divorce from Gavin Rossdale finalise in October (15), but Blake isn’t the only person who supported her through rough times, despite rumours to the contrary.
"There's been loads of people that have helped me with this tragedy," she told Dallas/Fort Worth radio station 103.7 KVIL. "There's definitely key people that have pointed me into the right direction. Blake really helped me. Not to change the subject, but it's kinda on the same subject, Pharrell (Williams) was literally like a guardian angel."
When asked why she went public about her relationship with Blake, Gwen claimed the information was initially revealed without the star’s consent.
"We didn't [go public]!” she said. “Like, somebody did. That's what's so crazy like, who announces that? Why would I do that?"
Although there is significant chatter about her fresh romance with Blake, Gwen isn’t allowing other people to dampen her spirits about the relationship.
“He's a pretty rad guy, I have to say that,” she gushed.
In a new interview with InStyle magazine, Gwen noted was struggling emotionally for years before her and Gavin’s divorce, with problems stemming as far back as No Doubt's last record, 2012's Push and Shove.
"I didn’t tour at all, but I did record the No Doubt album, which was super hard," she explained to the publication.
"I was torn the whole time. Every day I would take the kids to school, drive to Santa Monica (in California), work on the album, and then I’d think, 'Oh my God, if I don't leave by 2.30, I’m not gonna get home in time for dinner'.
"And Gavin being on tour... I’m not gonna say there weren’t some incredible moments making that album. But it was a lot of knocking my head against the wall. A lot of struggle.
