Gwyneth Paltrow believes she has more friends now that she’s 40 because she’s “less threatening” than she was in her twenties.
The actress shares eight-year-old daughter Apple and six-year-old son Moses with her musician husband Chris Martin.
Gwyneth turned 40 last September and is enjoying her new age.
At the age of 26 the thespian won an Academy Award in the Best Actress category for her role in 1998 film Shakespeare In Love.
Gwyneth is convinced the success she experienced in her twenties negatively impacted her social life.
“I feel a sisterhood emerging around me. I’m less threatening now that I’m 40 and not 26-with-an-Oscar,” she revealed in a new interview with Self magazine.
Gwyneth is preparing to release a cook book called It’s All Good, which will reach shelves in early April.
The recipes in the tome, which are all free of gluten and carbohydrates, make her “feel lighter” and help her “emotions get smoother”.
Another thing that keeps Gwyneth balanced is good old-fashioned girl time.
Whenever she is feeling frazzled, the star reaches out to one of her best friends.
“They know I’ve been through a lot of pain and suffering – some public, some private – and I keep going,” Gwyneth said.
“Or maybe it’s just that I was the first one who could afford therapy!”
