Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez divorcing
Actress Halle Berry has called time on her marriage to Oliver Martinez.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are divorcing after two years of marriage with "a heavy heart”.
The X-Men star wed Martinez in July, 2013, but the actress recently filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences, according to TMZ.com.
The couple shares two-year-old son Maceo, and Berry is asking for the custody agreement to be in "the best interests of the child".
The couple released a statement on Tuesday (27Oct15) confirming the end of their union.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,” it began. “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son.
“We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children's privacy, as we go through this difficult period.”
Rumours about an impending split have been circulating online for months, after Berry was repeatedly photographed without her wedding ring.
She also appeared to forget about the stars' wedding anniversary in July (15), when she was asked about their plans to celebrate during an interview with E! News.
"Thank you for reminding me," she said. "I gotta get something fast!"
It was also claimed in Britain’s Grazia magazine in August (15) that the couple were spending increasing amounts of time apart .
“Olivier is mainly based in Paris or at their Malibu home, while Halle and the kids spend much of their time in the Hollywood Hills,” a source told the outlet. “When they met, Halle was coming out of a horrible split with Gabriel Aubrey. She saw Olivier as her protector, but as time has gone on it seems their chemistry has proved unsustainable. They're both quite hot-headed, and not used to compromise."
It's Berry's third failed marriage - she was also previously wed to former baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet.
She also has a daughter, Nahla, with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
