Halle thanks stars for support

Halle Berry has thanked Jennifer Garner for help with an anti-paparazzi bill.

The stars were among a host of celebrities who fought to make it illegal for paparazzi to shoot their children.

The bill was signed into law today in Sacramento, CA – and Halle is overjoyed.

"I am forever in awe of the support I got within my community from the enormously talented musician Adele to fellow actor Jennifer Garner who travelled with me to Sacramento to share her children's stories, experience and her desire to give them a better life," the pregnant star said in a statement.

The actress went on to thank all the other people who helped, and insisted she could not have won the battle alone. She also pointed out it is not just the children of celebrities who suffer.

“I'm grateful to Nia Vardalos and the numerous parents who work as actors, musicians, as well as professionals in medicine, mental health, lawyers, judges and cops who have experienced their children being harassed, tormented or otherwise put in dangerous situations due to their parent’s profession and therefore lent their support,” the actress continued.

Jennifer and Halle travelled to Sacramento together in August to make statements about the bill.

Jennifer said her three children with Ben Affleck are “private citizens” and deserved to have privacy and protection. “They're beautiful and sweet and innocent, and I don't want a gang of shouting, arguing, law-breaking photographers who camp out everywhere we are all day, every day, to continue traumatising my kids,” she said.

Under the new laws, photographers who harass the children of famous parents can face up to a year in prison and hefty fines.

Halle is mother to five-year-old daughter Nahla with her ex-partner Gabriel Aubry and is expecting a son with her husband Olivier Martinez.
