Dancing On Ice finalist Matt Lapinskas has claimed the celebrities are given previous contestants' hand-me-downs to wear on the show.
The former EastEnders star told how he was given a pair of trousers to wear on the ice, and it had TV presenter Jeff Brazier's name written in the crotch. Jeff competed in the ITV talent show in 2011.
Matt said: "I had one costume that said Jeff in it. Jeff Brazier. Literally at the bottom of the crotch - I popped it open and it said Jeff."
The ex-EastEnder also told how he spent one show having the knees of his trousers spray-painted black backstage as the colour had started to fade when he scraped against the ice.
"I had a couple of routines when I had to do some knee slides and some spins and stuff and you get the trousers and they're so slippery.
"I had black jeans and every time I slid, it would run and I had white patches on my jeans so they were spraying me with black paint on my knees."
Boxer Luke Campbell has also experienced his share of wardrobe malfunction, after partner Jenna Smith ripped his costume during one routine.
He revealed: "I had to change a top, because there was loads of crystals on my top and down my chest and I sit Jenna on my shoulder and she slides down my body, and as she was sliding down, all the crystals started catching on my skin and it ripped the top, so then we had to go and change."
