Hannah Arterton: I don't need Gemma's help

Hannah Arterton thinks she has to make her own way in the movie industry and not rely on older sister Gemma.

The younger sister of Byzantium star Gemma is taking on her first lead role in rom-com Walking on Sunshine, a musical about a wedding and all its dramas.

Despite her sibling's experience in the movie industry, Hannah feels she needs to go her own way.

"She's always there, in the same way that all big sisters are, but I think she understands that we're quite different, and the only way to really learn in this industry is to live it and do it," she mused to Total Film magazine.

"It's more about finding my own way and trusting my own instincts."

Walking on Sunshine also stars Leona Lewis and is set to classic '80s hits. Hannah immediately knew she wanted to be a part of the fun feature.

"When I got the call I was screaming in the street!" she laughed. "It was an amazing moment. Because I felt so certain of the character and that I could do it, it wasn't as scary."

Hannah is slowly adding to her acting credits, which include a part in TV show Atlantis and one in drama romance movie Hide and Seek, which hits UK cinemas today.

She knows exactly what kind of part she has her eye on next.

"I think I'd like to do a period piece, like a proper Brontë sisters kind of thing, with that combination of romanticism and darkness," she revealed.

"I remember watching Samantha Morton's Jane Eyre: I was absolutely terrified but also enthralled. I love that it's about love but also really scary."

Walking on Sunshine hits UK cinemas on June 27.
