Harewood: Strictly isn't for me

David Harewood has hinted that he's turned down an offer to foxtrot on to Strictly Come Dancing.

The ex-Homeland actor suggested that he couldn't see himself in the often outlandish costumes that are part of the show .

He told his Twitter followers: "I was asked to do a rather well known Saturday evening 'Dancing' show yesterday. I said 'No'. Strictly speaking it's not for me.#spandex.

"Anyway. I shall be doing Shakespeare in New York. Forgot what extraordinary language it is. How he constructs a phrase is magical."

Meanwhile, The Sun reported that former Byker Grove actress Donna Air - who has hit the headlines recently because of her romance with the Duchess of Cambridge's brother James Middleton - could be on the wishlist for the next series of the BBC One show.

An insider was quoted as saying: "Strictly's been trying to bag a contestant with royal connections for years, with Pippa Middleton top of the list. But Donna would also be a great catch."
