Harry 'asks for marriage permission'

Britain’s Prince Harry has reportedly met his girlfriend Cressida Bonas’ father and discussed his intention to propose.

The royal is believed to have met with Cressida Bonas’ father Jeffrey for the first time before embarking on his charity trip to Antarctica last month. Harry seemingly bonded with Jeffrey over the course of a weekend, with the pair getting to know each other on the golf course.

“They got on really well and enjoyed a few games of golf. Harry had ‘the chat’ with Jeffrey and tentatively asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage. Jeffrey gave his blessing for when the time is right,” a source told British magazine Grazia. “It seems that Harry and Cressida have spoken about marriage. He wanted to do the honourable thing and meet her father to let Jeffrey know his intentions before he went to the South Pole.”

The meeting is believed to have taken place at Cressida’s aunt Lady Charlotte Curzon’s home.

Harry and Cressida have been dating for around 18 months, with engagement rumours rife recently.

“It’s always scary meeting your girlfriend’s father, but Harry knows how close Cressida is to her family. He wants to ensure they’re on-board for when they announce an engagement,” an insider explained.

Harry and Cressida first sparked romance speculation when they were seen kissing on the ski slopes in Verbier in January. Since then their relationship has gone from strength to strength, with Cressida meeting members of the royal family recently.

“The palace is on standby for another engagement and we could expect an announcement sooner than everyone originally thought,” a source added.
