Harry Potter's Grint carries torch

Rupert Grint is the latest celebrity to get his hands on the Olympic Torch

Rupert Grint cast a spell on crowds of well-wishers as the Harry Potter star carried the Olympic Torch.

Rupert, who played Ron Weasley in the hit film franchise, was cheered on by hundreds of locals as he left Middlesex University in north-west London for his leg of the torch relay.

The actor was mobbed as he ended his run, with spectators desperate for a touch of the torch.

Day 68 of the relay was undertaken in glorious sunshine, and Rupert was happy that his workload was made easier by the route.

The 23-year-old said: "Running is kind of a new thing for me. I don't usually run for anything, but it was all downhill so I was okay.

"I didn't really know what to expect, it was all a bit of a blur. I'm just so proud to be a part of it.

"It's amazing to see everyone so excited and really geared up for this - I think it's going to be a great games."

Rupert, 23, is currently filming punk movie CBGB, which also stars Ashley Greene and Malin Akerman.
