Hathaway: The public was sick of me
Anne Hathaway thinks her popularity dipped to an all-time low last year.
The actress was triumphant during awards season in 2013 at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Oscars for her work in Les Misérables.
But Anne suspected that despite all her accolades, she wasn’t popular with the public.
"My impression is that people needed a break from me," she told the Huffington Post.
Taking time off was clearly what the star needed, as 2014 promises to be extremely busy for her.
After kicking off the New Year with husband Adam Shulman in Hawaii, Anne is preparing for approximately four film releases and is currently promoting Song One, which she produced with Adam.
In the movie, she sings – but isn’t expected to do it perfectly.
"It’s a very different film than [Les Mis], but I don't play a singer or a musician—I play an anthropologist," she explained. "So, I don't think it would have felt organic at all if all of a sudden [her character] Franny had this secretly honed talent. So, it was fun to get to sing and to find a place in my voice that it sounded like it was untrained and tentative and shy. But, I thought, you know, she comes from a musical family so she probably has a nice voice, but just isn't a singer."
