Amber Heard reportedly “gushed” about Johnny Depp on the set of her indie drama Syrup and would sneak away to call him.

The 27-year-old actress met the 49-year-old actor while working on The Rum Diary in 2011.

Rumours began to swirl the pair were more than friends following his split from longtime partner Vanessa Paradis.

Johnny and Amber remained tight-lipped about their relationship throughout the ordeal.

But a production insider told Radar Online the actress made her feelings for him known last year.

She appeared besotted while shooting Syrup in New York.

“Amber had an obvious glow during filming and she would gush about the guy in her life. It’s clear it was Johnny,” the source said, adding that Amber would “sneak off set to take calls” from him.

The couple have become more comfortable displaying their affection in public lately.

Johnny and Amber were pictured holding hands at a Rolling Stones concert in Los Angeles last Saturday, reigniting romance rumours.

An insider said things have become serious.

“Their relationship has been known to their pals for some time and really heated up recently. It’s gone to the next level, if you like,” the insider said.

Johnny and Vanessa announced their split last June. The former couple share two children.

Amber’s forthcoming comedy drama Syrup is scheduled for US release next month.
