Heidi Klum: I’m a mom and a dad at the same time
Heidi Klum thinks women are able to do things that men just cannot.
Model Heidi Klum doesn’t feel like things have changed drastically in her children’s lives since she got divorced from musician Seal.
The America’s Got Talent judge was married to the Kiss From a Rose singer for six years before they announced their break-up in January 2012. The former couple have three biological children together as well as Heidi’s daughter Leni who Seal adopted during their marriage. While the end of a parents’ relationship can be devastating for little ones, Heidi believes their offspring has handled their divorce well.
“Obviously things have changed," she told Redbook magazine. "But they haven’t changed drastically. (Seal) was never your typical dad who left for work in the morning with his briefcase and would be home by dinnertime every night. He travelled a lot. The kids knew it was part of his job. I’m a mom and a dad at the same time."
The 42-year-old finalised her divorce from Seal in 2014 and has since dated her bodyguard Martin Kristen and is currently in a relationship with art dealer Vito Schnabel. Despite still having men in her life Heidi has had to adjust to being a single mother but believes it’s something women are more than able to do.
“Women are capable of juggling a lot of balls — we do things that guys just cannot do," continued. "Men typically can juggle only one ball, and even then they’re like, ‘I’m confused. Should I put it in my right or left hand?’ A lot of them have a very hard time just trying to figure out what to do with that one ball. And often they want us to hold that one too!"
Heidi loves nothing more than being a mother even if it has had an impact on her body. While she still has a figure envied by women the world over, the star admits at times she’d like to be able to turn back the clock.
“Would it be nice if my skin and body still looked the way it did when I was 25? Sure," she laughed. "But the fact is, your body changes when you have children; you get wrinkles as you get older. I like that I have laugh lines from smiling too much."
