Heigl panics about parenting
Katherine Heigl always worries that she isn’t “doing enough” as a mother.
The 36-year-old actress and her husband Josh Kelley are parents to two adopted daughters, Naleigh, six, and two-year-old Adalaide. Motherhood has been an intense learning curve for the star, who wasn't prepared for the relentless second guessing it brought with it.
“I am always worried, ‘Am I messing this up? Am I not giving the right advice? Am I not steering them in the right direction? Am I working too much and not there enough?’ I think the biggest concern as a parent is worrying that you are never doing quite enough,” she told RadarOnline.com.
That doesn’t mean it’s all negative though. There are too many plus points about parenting for Katherine to count, with the actress gushing about how intense the love she feels for her girls is.
“I think the best part about being a mother is the overwhelming love that you get,” she said. “The hardest part of being a mother is that you are hoping you are doing right by your kids and that you are raising them to be the kind of people that they and you can be proud of.”
It’s not all been plain sailing for Katherine though. She has been at the centre of several scandals over the years, mainly claiming she is difficult to work with.
She famously played Izzie Stevens on US medical drama Grey’s Anatomy between 2005 and 2010, but fell out with the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes after she decided not to allow herself to be considered for a 2008 Emmy nomination because she didn’t think the writing for her character was good enough.
In October, Shonda took a pot shot at Katherine while discussing Scandal, which is another of the writer’s shows.
“There are no Heigls in this situation,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t put up with bulls**t or nasty people. I don’t have time for it.”
Katherine seemingly referenced this while talking to Radar.
“I have plenty of people that are more than happy to put me in my place,” she stated.
