Christina Hendricks asked to be a zombie in The Walking Dead, Greg Nicotero has revealed.
Greg, who has worked on films including Day Of The Dead and Hostel, and who last month won an Emmy for his work creating the zombies on the hit US TV show, revealed that the Mad Men actress approached him once to ask if she could guest star.
He said: "I went to the Golden Globes when Walking Dead was nominated and three of the actresses from Mad Men came over and said, 'We want to be zombies' and I'm looking at Christina Hendricks and going, 'No, God, how are we gong to do this?' So I just introduced them to Norman Reedus to distract them from the idea."
Greg added that a lot of people volunteer to play zombies in the series, which stars Andrew Lincoln as a zombie-fighting cop, but that the reality is not as fun as it sounds.
"The idea of being a zombie is great but then you come down and you sit in the make-up chair and it's hot and it's sweaty. My dad who is 75 years old wanted to come down. I had to talk him out of it too!" he said.
The second series of The Walking Dead, which has achieved the best-ever ratings for a cable programme in the US, hits the UK on Friday, October 21 on FX.
