Hilary Duff: 'Divorce and dating sucks'
Hilary Duff is grateful she gets to enjoy some time away from her son Luca when he spends time with his dad Mike Comrie.
Divorced Hilary Duff moans it can “suck” trying to navigate the singles scene.
The Younger actress split from ex-husband Mike Comrie in 2014, divorcing two years later. She went on to date trainer Jason Walsh but the romance fizzled out in November (16), and she's since been linked to musician Matthew Koma. However when asked about dating now she's not a married woman, Hilary admitted it's not all plain sailing.
“I never think being single sucks until I go out in L.A. with my girlfriends and the options are terrible. I really attract the old men!” she laughed to Redbook.
She adds that being divorced also “sucks”, though Mike and the Lizzie McGuire actress have maintained communication for the sake of their son. Hilary was even seen meeting up with ice hockey player Mike for dinner recently, following allegations he sexually assaulted a woman at his apartment in Los Angeles last month (Feb17).
“Some of my friends tell me, ‘God, it must be so nice, you get a break from your kid because you share him.’ I’m divorced, and it sucks,” she sighed. “Well, it did suck for a while; now it’s just normal. But it’s true, I do get a break. I had Luca by myself for a few weeks, no help, when Mike was on the road, and when he got home I was like, ‘He’s yours! Bye!’”
Also opening up about having more children in the future, 29-year-old Hilary told the publication she’s gotten over the fact that if she does have more kids, there will be a big age gap between them and Luca.
“It sucked when everyone would be like, ‘When are you having another?’ I’d be like, ‘Do you know what’s happening right now? I’m not having another’,” she recalled.
“You get engaged: ‘When’s the wedding?’ You get married: ‘When’s the baby?’ You have a baby: ‘When’s the next one?’ … I’m cherishing the now. Besides, watch: I’ll probably get some evil spawn of Hilary the next time around.”
