Hilary Duff “definitely” wants to have another child at some point in the future.

The 27-year-old actress has a three-year-old son, Luca, with estranged husband Mike Comrie. And the multi-talented star said she’s thrilled that she and Mike have been able to work through their issues to focus on their son.

“We are a unit and we’re going to be a unit for the rest of our lives,” Hilary told People magazine.

“We realised [as a couple] we weren’t where we used to be. But I feel so lucky this happened when Luca was young because this is his normal now.”

Hilary is currently enjoying the single life after filing for divorce form Mike in January. But she told the publication that at some point in the future, she would like to imagine herself having another child.

“The joy that Luca has brought to my life, and the purpose and meaning — there are no words for it,” she said. “I definitely want that again.”

Hilary, who first found fame in Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire, can soon be seen back on the small screen in new series Younger.

She added to People that making the return has given her a much-needed boost in her life.

“It’s a shift to have your routine shaken up,” she said. “But you can’t mess up one day with a three-year-old.”

“When you make big decisions in your life, you feel powerful. I feel happy, I feel good, and I’m excited about all I have going on.”
