Holden: Cowell saved my career

Amanda Holden has been on the Britain's Got Talent judging panel since the show began

Amanda Holden has credited Simon Cowell with saving her career by making her a judge on Britain's Got Talent.

The 41-year-old actress has been on the judging panel of the TV show with Simon since it started in 2007, and thinks it has given her career a great boost.

Amanda told Easy Living magazine: "I'm grateful to him. Obviously he's made me a lot of money, but he also gave me an amazing profile change."

She revealed: "He gave me the job on Britain's Got Talent after someone dropped out - I think it was Cheryl Cole - and I turned up with no idea what to do. He told me to be myself and have fun, and I did. It changed everything for me."

But the happily married mother-of-two joked she is the only judge on Simon's shows that hasn't had a fling with him, after revelations of his affair with Dannii Minogue, and his confession that he hired Amanda "because I fancied her".

Amanda laughed: "I'm the only one he hasn't slept with! And it's staying that way. I love Simon. I met him 15 years ago. The first thing I said was, 'Don't get any ideas. I've booked a car to take me home'."
