Host the Week cancelled after Scarlett Moffatt's debut episode
Scarlett Moffatt will be the only host of the Channel 4 show now it's been cancelled.
Host the Week has been axed after its debut episode with Scarlett Moffatt gained poor ratings.
The Channel 4 programme aired for the first time last week (ends25Jun17), with Gogglebox star and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner Scarlett presenting.
With no script or plan to follow, the premise of the show was that a different famous face would front each episode and improvise their way through various scenarios, with one of Scarlett's gags hosting a funny version of the news alongside broadcast journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
But it seems the concept didn't go down well with the public as The Sun reports only 450,000 people tuned in, leading to bosses choosing to cancel the show sooner than later.
"We're brave enough to take risks with innovative programme ideas but also to acknowledge they don't all work and move on," a Channel 4 spokeswoman told the newspaper.
The second episode was set to be hosted by actor and comedian Jack Whitehall and would have been filmed on Wednesday (28Jun17) before airing the day after, however, all plans have now been scrapped.
"Channel 4 tried to give something new a go but it hasn't worked on any level," a source told The Sun. "It did not land with viewers and they've decided to not only leave the second episode, but completely pack in the show.
"It's unfortunate for Scarlett as she ends up the only host of the show that didn't work from the word go."
Other memorable moments from the first show included Scarlett meeting her crush, Blue singer Duncan James, and a skit in which she dressed up as superhero Wonder Woman.
