How I Met Your Mother gets renewed?
How I Met Your Mother could be getting the green light for another season.
The Emmy-winning TV show, starring Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan, is in early talks for a ninth season, reported E! Online.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, CBS President of Entertainment, Nina Tassler, hinted that it is looking positive.
"They had an incredible year last year and we have a great relationship with [creators] Craig Thomas and Carter Bays. They have a strategic wrap-up to the show," she said.
"They know we want the show to come back next year. We're not there yet in terms of [renewing How I Met Your Mother]. We're in early conversations and we're pretty optimistic."
Writer and co-creator Craig previously admitted he wasn't sure if the show would be renewed for another season.
"Right now, the thing that we know to be true is we have this year and no deal for next year. So we have to proceed as though this could be the last year of HIMYM," he told TVLine.
"Hopefully we will know soon. But we'd be thrilled to tell either story - either wrap it up this year or to tell another chapter of this story. We don't know yet which way it's going to go. We can't guarantee anything. It's not impossible it could go beyond Season 9."
The eighth season of How I Met Your Mother is due to air on US screens in September, and later this year on Channel 4 in the UK.
