Hudgens: I feel like a soccer mom

Vanessa Hudgens has revealed she's still coming to terms with her new shorter hairstyle.

The former High School Musical star chopped off her long raven locks for her role in indie film Gimme Shelter, in which she plays a homeless, pregnant teenager.

"Honestly, I kind of feel like a soccer mom, but we're going to let that go," she told Access Hollywood Live.

"There's nothing wrong with soccer moms, but I'm only 22!"

But Vanessa - who showed off her new crop at this week's Captain America: The First Avenger premiere - insisted she didn't mind sacrificing her tresses for the "dream" role.

"I grabbed the scissors and started cutting my actual hair and then my director (Ron Krauss) decided that he was going to grab the scissors, he grabs a chunk of my hair and just chops it," she said.

"I play this girl, who's like homeless and she doesn't care about her look very much. I kind of look like a boy throughout the whole movie."

The starlet added: "I miss (my hair) believe me, I do, but there's nothing I can do about it."
