Hugh Jackman close to Crowe

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman says Russell Crowe "is like a brother" to him.

The two are starring together in the new musical film Les Misérables. Although they have been portrayed as feuding by some, the actors actually share a very close friendship.

"My publicist sent me something in the press about how I enjoy beating him up. I sent it to him and we both had a laugh about it. We actually bonded together over this in every way," he told Empire magazine.

Les Misérables has demanded a lot of vocal dedication from the cast. The movie also stars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried, and has impressive song numbers which Hugh felt that he needed to prepare for - as they were all performed live.

"Valjean is a difficult song with a huge range. I wanted to get in shape," he added.

Although Hugh is front lining Les Misérables and has sung before both on stage and in front of the camera, musical theatre was not something that he had always pictured himself doing. "I'm a bit of an ignoramus when it comes to musical theatre. I always feel like an actor who stumbled into it," he explained.

Les Misérables will be released in theatres worldwide this December.

You don't want a rival to tell your employer about your resignation until you're ready to tender it. Protect your interests at all costs.More
