Hugh Jackman woke up to award

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman fell straight back to sleep after learning of his Golden Globe nomination.

The actor is in the running for the best music/comedy actor trophy at the 2013 ceremony for his turn as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables.

The nominations were announced in Los Angeles early yesterday morning and Hugh was astounded when he heard he'd made the grade.

"It was about the best 5.45am wakeup call I've had in my life," he laughed to talk show host Elle DeGeneres.

"I don't have a problem with sleeping. In fact, immediately after I found out I went back to sleep and actually had the best two hours from 6am to 8am I've ever had in my life."

Hugh had been out the night before, not managing to make it to bed until 2am. He has been busy promoting Les Misérables around the globe recently, with the New York City premiere taking place earlier this week.

The film has generated a lot of awards buzz, with Hugh also featuring in the best actor category of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards this week.

The Australian star has a lot to celebrate at the moment, as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. The honour came not long after he heard the Golden Globes news and Hugh was delighted his wife and children were with him to celebrate.

"I was so glad they were there," he admitted. "Cause it kind of hits you. As a kid from the northern suburbs of Sydney, here you are outside the theatre where the Oscars are. It's one of those moments to remember."
