Hugh Laurie tipped for pirate role

Hugh Laurie will play Blackbeard on the small screen, according to reports

Hugh Laurie is in talks to star as notorious pirate Blackbeard in action-adventure series Crossbones, according to reports.

The House star recently ended his role as the genius but cranky US doctor Dr Gregory House in the hit TV show.

NBC drama Crossbones will be set in 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, Deadline reported.

English pirate Blackbeard "reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors", NBC said of the drama.

Luther creator Neil Cross wrote the script for the 10-episode TV drama.

Gemini:

You never do anything in moderation. Attend every fun party, accept every juicy offer and try all the delectable treats spread before you. Avoid unpleasant people and activities like the plague. This should be a time of enjoyment. Leave your list of chores at home. You can always attend to these jobs at another time. If you have a chance to show your creative work to a publisher, manager or agent, go ahead. This is also a great opportunity to go on job interviews, auditions and first dates.More
