Idris: I've sacrificed everything
Idris Elba has conceded that he sacrifices time with his family for work.
The British star can currently be seen playing late anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela in a film adaption of the late South African leader's life.
But often Idris' work comes at the expense of his home life, including losing out on time with his 12-year-old daughter Isan.
He says his life has become a "travelling circus" but that there "ain't no better show in town!"
"You sacrifice that time - not just my daughter but my family. I'm away from that structure so much that it's actually a very lonely life sometimes," he told US Vogue magazine.
The 41-year-old star is an accomplished DJ as well as a respected actor, and is also looking to move into directing in the future.
But he laughs that some people think he doesn't work enough, and often ask him what he's been up to despite his newfound presence in Hollywood.
"Original music, original story - that would be a cherry on the cake for me," he said of his career hopes. "I've done some music videos, some short films. I really enjoy it. I'm using a language within my career that I've never used before.
"It's quite interesting for me when someone comes up to me and says, 'Yo, man, I haven't seen you working much. What's going on?' I'll say, 'Oh, I've done bits and pieces here and there,'" he smiled.
