Iggy Azalea: Music is music
Iggy Azalea has responded to rap legend Rah Digga’s comments about her music not being “real”.
Legendary hip hop emcee Rah Digga told AllHipHop recently she couldn’t get into the Australian star’s music because it’s “not real” enough to pass as authentic rap.
And Iggy seems to have responded to Rah’s comments by writing a series of messages on her Twitter profile Wednesday.
“its definetly funny seeing ppl get so emotional over it all. What does it matter? music is music and many enjoy mine, no need to feel upset. (sic),” the 24-year-old wrote.
Iggy recently featured in a remix of Jennifer Lopez’s hit song Booty and during the music video for the tune, she and JLo were seen showing off their buttocks while gyrating in sexy outfits.
The Problem hitmaker doesn’t have an issue with doing what she must to put on a pleasurable performance for fans.
“I honestly don't really mind if I'm described as rap or pop. My passion is purely making music and entertaining,” Iggy tweeted.
Rah has been active in the hip hop scene for nearly 20 years, having previously worked with Busta Rhymes’ Flipmode Squad. She is regarded as one of the most illustrious and honoured female emcees in the industry.
And Rah told AllHipHop she isn’t impressed with Iggy’s musical offerings.
“Iggy Azalea, I can’t really get into her. Because it’s just not real to me,” Rah Digga said during the interview. “There is a white girl from Australia that spits in an Australian accent, and her name is Chelsea Jane. That I can get into. Teach me Australian Hip Hop culture. Don’t come to America and try to convince me that you’re Gangsta Boo… We’re not going to believe you if you’re trying to convince us that you’re out here trap shooting.
“That’s the problem. They’re too many passes being given. When did it become wrong to call out people that don’t write their own rhymes? When did that become a crime in Hip Hop?”
