I’m tipping Jedward for Eurovision win: Graham Norton
Comedian and TV star Graham Norton has tipped Jedward to deliver Eurovision Song Contest glory in Azerbaijan for Ireland.
The BBC chat show host said he expected both Ireland's entry and Britain's Eurovision veteran, Engelbert Humperdinck (76), to defy the critics.
But he admitted that the voting system means it is impossible to predict exactly what could happen next weekend.
He said the UK’s entry — featuring the second-oldest performer in the competition — could be hampered by having to sing first in the final.
“I think they are both very good songs, very catchy. I have a feeling they will both do well and good luck to them,” he said. “Good luck to Jedward in getting through their semi-final — I think they could surprise a lot of people.
Jedward — aka Dublin twins John and Edward Grimes (20) — are ranked as outsiders at 20/1 by UK bookmakers William Hill.
In contrast, Engelbert Humperdinck — famed for having kept The Beatles off the number one slot in 1967 with his own hit ‘Release Me' — is ranked at 10/1.
