Jackman gets new dog for Xmas
Hugh Jackman has extended his family once again, by getting a new dog just in time for Christmas.
The 46-year-old actor is already the proud owner of French bulldog Dali. And he posted a shot on Instagram of himself holding the new addition to his brood.
"Santa came early and he brought a sister for Dali. No name just yet," Hugh wrote alongside the shot of the shaggy pooch in his arms.
Hugh has two adopted children, 14-year-old Oscar and nine-year-old Ava, with wife Deborra-Lee Furness. And the family introduced their first canine companion when Hugh brought home Dali back in 2010.
Since then, Dali has regularly been seen trotting alongside Hugh as he walks the pooch around New York.
Hugh is currently being kept busy with his commitments in Broadway play The River, which is running until January.
The role sees Hugh gut a fish live on stage. And in a recent interview, the actor admitted he was apprehensive about the prospect.
"I was originally a little nervous about it," Hugh said. "I’d never done it before and I knew it had to look like he’d been doing it his whole life."
And it seems that Hugh’s skills on stage proved more than successful, as it was revealed earlier this week that the stage show has already recouped the $3.2 million it cost to produce it.
The play, by Jez Butterworth, tells the story of Hugh’s fisherman character and his turbulent love life.
And Hugh said that there was something about the script that he found immensely appealing.
“I think the more poetically you take the piece, and less literally you take the piece, the deeper you go with it,” Hugh said. “Ultimately, I think it’s a play that just spoke to me and my heart. I read it and I was like, ‘Wow. There’s something very true and real and honest about connection, about loss, about the search in life.’ That’s something that I’ve always had.”
