Jackman: Wife and I are best mates

Hugh Jackman has revealed that he and his wife have made a pact never to spend more than two weeks apart.

The X-Men actor and actress Deborra-Lee Furness have been married for 17 years and the star said togetherness is a key factor in their happy marriage.

He told Good Housekeeping magazine: "When I met her she'd already done about 20 movies. She said, 'It's not that I think you're going to go off with a co-star, or vice versa. But people get used to living apart. You get used to handling a problem yourself'."

The couple met on Australian TV show Correlli in 1994.

Hugh said: "From day one, we were best mates. We just clicked. We were giggling and laughing - we just connected."

The actor, who has two adopted children with his wife, also revealed that they work hard at communicating with each other.

"We talk about everything all the time," he said. "The bedrock of any relationship is to communicate, and Deb and I have always done that, discussing whatever's going on, good or bad."
