Jake Johnson talks marijuana
Jake Johnson doesn’t think smoking bad marijuana should be considered a crime.
The New Girl star is continuing to cement his status as comedy actor with latest role in comedy movie Let’s Be Cops opposite Damon Wayans Jr. It's a buddy flick about two roommates who don police uniforms and pretend to be law enforcers.
While Jake doesn’t pretend to be an angel in real life, he does think that smoking bad marijuana isn’t a crime.
“And it depends if the weed is even good,” Jake laughed to the American edition of Esquire magazine. “Sometimes you're like, ‘Oh this is bad. It's legal.'
“Yeah, you're like, ‘This is weird tobacco.’ Then you smoke some sh*t and you're like, ‘This has to be illegal! It's crazy.’”
The 36-year-old actor has become a comedy favourite thanks to his role as hapless Nick Miller in New Girl, which co-stars Zooey Deschanel.
When asked if his nice guy image was accurate, Jake revealed that struggling in Hollywood helped to form his character.
“We're not f**king assholes. I don't think we're the nicest humans in the world, but there's something about Damon and I where we didn't start working at a young age and have success when we were 22. We had a lot of years where we weren't doing what we wanted to do be doing. So we did see what it was like from the other side.
“I take the term 'nice guys' to mean we're not taking anything for granted. There's a lot of luck in this business, and when it's going in your favour, it's pretty great and you take advantage of it as best you can,” he explained.
