Jamelia joins Caribbean crime drama

Jamelia has landed her first TV acting role

Jamelia will join a long line of guest stars in the new series of Caribbean crime drama Death In Paradise.

The singer will appear in the BBC One show which is filmed in Guadeloupe and stars Ben Miller as DI Richard Poole and Sara Martins as his sidekick Detective Sergeant Camille Bordey.

Jamelia said: "I'm so excited - not only am I in a great drama filming my first TV role but I'm doing it in the Caribbean too. I'm really looking forward to working with such a talented cast."

The new series also sees guest appearances from stars including Stephanie Beacham, Amanda Mealing, Dexter Fletcher and Kenneth Cranham.

Regular cast members including Danny John-Jules and Don Warrington also return.

Executive producer Belinda Campbell said: "We have a wonderful cast for Death In Paradise and our list of guest stars are equally exciting.

"Jamelia in particular was such a surprise find; she is not only a talented singer but actress too.

"The stories for this series are full of humour and intrigue and hopefully the whole family will have fun trying to work out whodunnit each week. We can't wait to bring a bit of Caribbean sunshine back to the cold and wet UK."
