James Martin returning to Saturday morning TV
The popular chef has been snapped up by ITV after leaving BBC show Saturday Kitchen last year (16).
James Martin has landed a new weekend cooking show 13 months after he quit Saturday Kitchen.
The TV chef devastated fans when he announced last February (16) that he’d be stepping down from the BBC show after 10 years at the helm, with his last episode airing the following month.
James stated at the time that he’d left the show so he could have a lie in on Saturdays and to concentrate on other commitments, and it seems rival channel ITV has listened to his demands.
The network has snapped up the former Ready Steady Cook star, and as well as a pre-recorded Saturday morning show filmed in his own home, James will also front James Martin’s American Adventure.
“ITV is just such a wonderful broadcaster and an absolute pleasure to work with,” the 44-year-old shared in a statement “Me and my team feel right at home here and are really excited about growing our relationship with the new projects we have coming up.
“America is a place I have always loved and the chance to go and explore it both for Daytime and Peak at ITV is one I simply couldn’t resist!”
He adds that he hopes his loyal fan base will be pleased to be starting the weekend with him again.
“Being back on Saturday mornings feels really exciting, not a day has gone by in the last year without someone asking me if I’ll be back at that time!” he smiled.
“But it was really important to me to do things differently… so the new show will take some unexpected turns, watch this space!”
Saturday Morning with James Martin will feature big name guests from the world of entertainment, food and sport, and the new series will come from James’ own kitchen, where guests and crew will gather round the counter as they cook and chat.
