Jay McGuiness plans to 'laugh instead of shake' during Strictly live tour
Strictly champion Jay McGuiness is taking a more laid back approach to the show's live tour, planning to "laugh instead of shake like a dog" when he makes mistakes.
McGuiness was notably petrified during the early weeks of Strictly Come Dancing whenever he had to take to the floor or receive feedback from the judges.
But he went on to win the show in December alongside professional partner Aliona Vilani, and the two will now take part in the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour 2016.
Speaking ahead of the tour's first night in Birmingham on Friday, he said: "T here's less worry about if this is going to be your last week, so you just get out there, have a laugh.
"The mistakes, I'll laugh instead of shake like a dog."
McGuiness will also have to put up with teasing from the other celebrities and professional dancers on the tour, including Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice, Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko, Helen George and Aljaz Skorjanec, Ainsley Harriott and Natalie Lowe, Frankie Bridge and Kevin Clifton, and Jake Wood and Janette Manrara.
He told the Press Association: "N ow, there's a lot more mickey-taking from all the rest, like: 'You need to prove you deserve the glitterball (trophy) now'.
"But I think there's no pressure. Now we can just enjoy our dances and no one's going home, you know? We can just dance for three weeks solid."
The live tour will visit Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Nottingham and London before wrapping on February 14.
On whether they were getting on each other's nerves yet, he joked: "I think we've got rid of all the dead wood.
"No, I'm just kidding. I think because all the pressure is off, everyone honestly just gets on that bus, makes fun of each other - it's the best atmosphere, I love it."
2015 runner-up Foote added: "We've all been having fun backstage haven't we? And winding each other up and stuff like that."
She said: " On Strictly we only had, like, four days to learn a routine. And it was quite stressful. So when you would get on the floor, you still didn't know it 100%.
"Whereas we've spent the last two weeks doing these dances and we'll be doing them for a month, so you'll know them like - it's like your body's gone into a twitch and you'll just know it. It's like muscle memory. You can just enjoy it because there's no stress about knowing the dance any more."
