Jenna Dewan Tatum once dated Justin Timberlake

Jenna Dewan Tatum never saw a dance-off take place between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

Jenna Dewan Tatum has confirmed she once dated Justin Timberlake.

The actress/dancer, who is married to Channing Tatum, served as a backing dancer for the popstar in 2002, around the time he split from Britney Spears, and it has long been rumoured that they briefly dated.

Jenna was asked about the speculation during her appearance on Sunday night's (14May17) Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and, while she seemed embarrassed and flustered, she confirmed it was true.

"We dated yeah," she said. "Not (for) that long... We were like friends that then dated. We're just really good friends now."

When Andy asked if she was Justin's rebound from Britney, she exclaimed, "No, I was not the rebound! I was very clear, not to be (a rebound)". Jenna appeared to explain further when Tituss Burgess from TV comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, her fellow guest, asked if Justin "brought sexy back", like his famous 2006 single SexyBack.

"He's sexy, of course he's sexy," she replied, before continuing, "But no, no, I was not a rebound. We're still good friends. It's not as salacious as everyone thinks."

Andy got onto the topic of Justin after a viewer phoned in and asked if the rumoured dance-off between Britney and Justin actually took place. According to the recent TV movie Britney Ever After, the exes had a dance battle in a club over Jenna, but the 36-year-old insisted that didn't take place.

"This dance off situation never happened people!" she said. "It was in tabloids and everyone thought that this happened and I really wish I could say that happened because it would be the coolest story in the world... it would be so awesome, but no, it never happened... not that I saw."

Jenna went on to meet husband Channing on the set of 2006 movie Step Up and they got married in 2009, while Justin married actress Jessica Biel in 2012.
