Jennifer Aniston: Justin is paternal
Jennifer Aniston has had mothering instincts "all throughout" her life.
The actress has been engaged to Justin Theroux for almost a year, with the pair meeting on the set of the 2012 movie Wanderlust. In an interview for the new US edition of Glamour magazine, Jennifer is interviewed by her latest co-star Jason Sudeikis.
The pair discuss their new film We're the Millers, and when Jason suggests women are better than men at accessing their child raising impulses, Jennifer is quick to disagree.
"I think that's just you! I know Justin, for instance, has extremely amazing paternal instincts," she said. "Because [growing up] he had to sort of become the parent. I think when you have to become the parent when you're a younger person, you learn those instincts."
Jennifer also revealed she's had maternal instincts "all throughout her life" when Jason comments on how she bonded with Emma Roberts, who plays her daughter in the film.
During the interview, which took place when Jennifer hosted a dinner party at her Los Angeles home, the star also hints at how she coped with her divorce from Brad Pitt.
Jennifer was asked what advice she would have given herself when she was in her thirties, when she was going through her painful split from Brad.
"Thirties. Go to therapy. Clean up all of the sh*t. Clean up all of the toxins and the noise," she replied. "Understand who you are. Educate yourself on the self. You can undo a lot of things. If you're not happy, you can become happy. Happiness is a choice. That's the thing I really feel. Like with friends who refuse to get happy, who refuse to rise above the discomfort of where they're at."
Jason then draw parallels between Jennifer's advice and her latest film role, in which she plays a stripper.
"It's almost like your character Rose from We're the Millers," he offers. "'This is all I deserve' kind of thinking. It's like, no, you deserve..."
"You actually deserve to have a family," Jennifer added. "And once you meet yourself, and truly love yourself, then you attract that. And look - I mean, the two of us have found these two, beautiful, loving, open people."
Jason is currently engaged to actress Olivia Wilde, and was previously married to actress-and-writer Kay Cannon.
