The Ghost Whisperer star began dating the actor and director almost a year ago, but her representative confirmed to People.com they have split.

Jennifer's spokesperson said: "She's doing fine."

The 32-year-old actress is currently filming an episode of Hot In Cleveland.

Jennifer was previously engaged to Scottish actor Ross McCall and dated her Ghost Whisperer co-star Jamie Kennedy before her relationship with Alex.

In January this year she told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres she has already chosen her wedding rings.

Jennifer revealed: "I actually have three [rings picked out] because I feel like I'm doing the guy a favour.

"I feel women are very confusing. We never know what we want and we're not very good at nailing that down for them. And I feel like I don't want to be upset if he picks a bad ring, so I feel like having three picked out and saying, 'Look! Look at this plethora of things you can choose from!'."
