Jennifer Metcalfe pregnant with first child - report

Jennifer Metcalfe is said to be "delighted" to start a family with boyfriend Greg Lake.

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe is reportedly "over the moon" after falling pregnant with her first child.

The actress has been dating Greg Lake, who was part of the first series of MTV favourite Geordie Shore, for the past four years. And now the 34-year-old star is apparently delighted to be starting a family with her beau.

The happy news comes after Jennifer's soap character Mercedes McQueen suffered a stillbirth in October 2015, with the actress describing the scenes as "really hard" to film.

As well as the traumatic stillbirth scenes, Mercedes also fell pregnant in 2007 after sleeping with her sister's husband, but had an abortion.

"Jen and Greg are delighted," a source told The Sun about the baby news. "They have told their friends and family, who are chuffed too.

“Obviously after her difficult time filming her last pregnancy scenes on Hollyoaks this is a breath of fresh air for Jen. It’s going to be an exciting rest of the year for her."

It remains to be seen how Hollyoaks bosses deal with Jennifer's changing figure - whether or not they choose to write it into one of the story lines on the soap or attempt to disguise her bump with loose clothing and clever camera angles.

In an interview with OK! magazine last year, Jennifer and Greg revealed they were both keen to start a family.

"I think I'd like to have two kids. A boy and girl would be nice. I've got two nephews and I love spending time with them," Greg told the publication.

The pair, who started dating in 2013, also plan to get married in the near future, with Jennifer telling the magazine she is leaving the proposal up to her man.

"I think speaking about it takes the romance out of it. I think it's down to the guy, so I'll just leave him to it! But it will happen one day, we see it in our future," she smiled.
