Jessica Alba: Laughter is everything

Jessica Alba aims to make people laugh for "an hour and a half" with her films.

The 32-year-old actress has made a variety of films in the past, including popular dance flick Honey, the Fantastic Four action franchise and her latest family venture, animated movie Escape from Planet Earth.

She has to put up with a lot of media attention, but knowing people find enjoyment in her work makes it all worthwhile for Jessica.

"It's just work, it's part of the job," she answered the British edition of OK! magazine when questioned about whether she enjoys the spotlight.

"That's not the fun part, the fun part is being able to play a character and make movies. Or when people come up to you and say, 'Oh my gosh, I was having the worst day and I watched your movie and I was cracking up for an hour and a half.'"

In the past, Jessica has also starred in darker films such as thrillers The Eye and Awake.

She has young daughters Honor, five, and three-year-old Haven with her husband Cash Warren and admits her job can be perplexing for the kids.

"Most things I do are not appropriate for kids, but if it's a film aimed at them then I'll take them on set," she explained.

"They mainly just want to hang out with mom. They don't really understand my work!"

Escape form Planet Earth is a feel-good family film and tells the story of a dangerous alien planet.

Jessica is pleased to be part of such a universally appealing feature.

"It was so much fun, it's great doing a family movie like this!" she gushed.
