Jessie J has written songs for some big US names - but a recent encounter with Beyonce left her overwhelmed.
The Price Tag singer, who appeared as part of the house band at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, said she looked up to the pregnant star.
"I met her recently for the first time, and I sometimes can't understand when people meet me and they're shaking and they can't touch me, but I met her and just held her hand and said 'I just want to say thank you for making me feel like I can do this'," she said.
And the 23-year-old aspires to have a successful career like Beyonce, who revealed she was pregnant at the awards this weekend.
"I hope in 10 years' time I can be anywhere near where she is - I just feel like if she can do it I can do it. That's a nice thing to have, you know, everyone needs someone to look up to," she added.
BRIT School graduate Jessie also finds herself moved by her fellow student Adele, who won four gongs at the VMAs.
"I'm so proud of her," she added.
Jessie performed from a white throne with her left foot in a cast after damaging tendons several months ago.
"I'm just taking the opportunity with both hands, one foot, and I'm just going to do my thing," she continued.
