Jessie J moving on from The Voice Australia
The singer is anxious to record a new album.
Jessie J has ruled out a return as a judge on the U.K. or Australian versions of The Voice, because she wants to focus on her music again.
The Price Tag singer signed on to The Voice Australia last year (15) after previously serving as a mentor on the British competition series, and she recently wrapped judging season five Down Under alongside Good Charlotte rockers Benji and Joel Madden and Delta Goodrem.
However, Jessie has no plans to return to the small screen right now as she is anxious to get back into the studio and make new music.
"I've loved doing the show, I've done four seasons: two in the U.K., two in Sydney, but I just need to make another album," she told U.S. morning show Live! with Kelly on Wednesday (20Jul16).
Jessie admits she was becoming restless on The Voice Australia as she was eager to step onstage herself: "It's really time consuming and if I'm being honest with you, I get to the point where I'm in the chair and I just wanna sing," she added. "I'm sitting there and I want to tell them, 'You have to do it better and I'm trying to coach you, but I just want to make it a duet.'
"So I know it's time, I had a little bit of a kind of slow down break and now I know I'm ready to write another album."
Jessie's comments emerge weeks after she claimed she had yet to start thinking about a follow-up to her 2014 record Sweet Talker, because she wanted to take time and not rush the project.
"I'm taking a moment," she told Australian radio host Kent 'Smallzy' Small on his Nova FM show, Smallzy's Surgery. "I get it that the album nearly came out two years ago, it's been a while... but I haven't stopped working you know and so I just want to take some time.
"My next album for me is so important that I cannot rush it and I rushed the last one a little bit, even though I was very lucky to have a lot of success."
Jessie, 28, also previously released the albums Who You Are in 2011 and Alive in 2013.
