Jim Carrey wants sexual health accusations struck from wrongful death suit

The actor insists he has never had an STD.

Jim Carrey is stepping up his legal battle against the mother of his late ex-girlfriend Cathriona White, insisting accusations about his sexual health are "irrelevant" to her suicide.

White took her own life at her California home in September, 2015 and weeks after the first anniversary of her passing, the Irish make-up artist's mum, Brigid Sweetman, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Carrey.

The actor's representatives dismissed the court action as a money grab, while Carrey himself denied claims from Sweetman and White's estranged husband Mark Burton, who has filed his own suit, alleging the Dumb & Dumber star gave White sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), illnesses that reportedly contributed to her decision to commit suicide.

Now, in new legal documents filed on Monday (19Dec16), Carrey has asked a judge to strike any mention of the comedian having STDs from the case, because it has nothing to do with White's death. He maintains a dispute he had with White about the issue occurred two years before she died.

The actor, who dated White on and off from 2012, goes on to accuse Sweetman of going public with the STD claims to embarrass and humiliate him in a bid to push him into a settlement.

"A part of their attempt to shakedown Carrey for a multi-million dollar payday, Sweetman and her attorney have riddled the Complaint with severe ad hominem attacks and allegations about STDs, none of which are relevant to the cause of death," reads the court filing. "Hence, none of these allegations belong in the Complaint."

According to DailyMail.com, the star also makes reference to White's suicide notes, insisting there was no mention of her mother, who she had become estranged from following her dad's death in 2012.

"White left Carrey two suicide notes speaking lovingly to him, requesting his forgiveness for ending her own life, describing him, and him alone, as her 'family', and entrusting him to divide her property," the documents continue.

He also makes it known he was left "absolutely devastated" by White's suicide, which occurred on the third anniversary of her father's passing.

Carrey is also seeking to have allegations suggesting he reneged on paying for White's funeral costs and claims he owns a private jet dismissed from the case, so as not to prejudice a court or potential jury regarding his reported wealth.
