Jimi Mistry reckons dance training has fringe benefits

Jimi Mistry has discovered one of the perks of dancing - getting a much coveted six-pack.

The ex-EastEnders star is competing in BBC ballroom competition Strictly Come Dancing with professional dancer Flavia Cacace, which involves training for hours each day.

"We are training hard - it's absolutely insane, in fact, but I am losing weight and getting a little six-pack; I can't believe it, it's amazing," he said at the London Film Festival premiere of his new film, West Is West.

"Flavia is putting me through my paces every day. We do five-and-a-half hours of dancing six days a week for the show. It's intense, my whole body aches, but I'm having the best time. I'm absolutely loving it, so that's my focus at the moment," he added.

Jimi hinted this week's performance would be worth watching.

"It's definitely going to be good. You'll have to wait and see, but we're going for it," he added, as Flavia exclaimed: "Expect madness and chaos!"

The 37-year-old said he enjoys strutting his stuff on the dancefloor.

"I've always been a bit of a natural groover, that's for sure. It's about harnessing that. I've got a lot of energy and enthusiasm, it's just about getting it channelled in the right way," he revealed.
