Joe Jonas considers DNCE hit Cake by the Ocean his favourite song he has ever written, because penning the track took a "leap of faith" on his part.

Joe Jonas wants to spend more time with his siblings now they aren't in the Jonas Brothers.

Joe first found fame alongside Kevin and Nick in the pop group, but the band broke up in 2013 so they could pursue solo ventures. While the disbandment was difficult to accept at first, Joe is thrilled the split has actually served to reconnect him with his brothers.

"The biggest difference, I think, is just that we're not working together, but we want to spend more time together because of that. When you're with someone all the time, you're like, 'I need a break,' but now that we don't get to see each other as much, we're hungry for those moments," he said in an interview with Popsugar Australia. "I'm actually flying to go see my brother Nick. I'm going to his show to check it out since I haven't seen the set yet. So, there's special stuff like that. I think the dynamic has changed where we crave time that we don't get anymore."

Joe also enjoys spending time with Kevin's two-year-old daughter Alena on his days off. Kevin and wife Danielle are currently expecting their second child, and Joe is excited to have another tot to call him uncle.

"Just being able to have fun with her and spoil her," Joe said of what he loves the most about his new role in life. "Making her laugh is the best feeling in the world. You got your little buddy that you can play with, and hearing 'Uncle Joe' is the best feeling. And when she starts crying, you can give her right back."

The 26-year-old is currently enjoying huge success with his group DNCE, whose debut single Cake by the Ocean became a hit worldwide. And during the interview, Joe cited the track as the favourite one he was ever written.

"It's done so much for the band and for me personally and it's the first song I took a leap of faith and created on my own rather than with anyone else," he said. "I obviously wrote it with Justin Tranter and Mattman & Robin, but to create something that was on my own, that was kind of a big jump."
