'The Only Way Is Essex' star Joey Essex, claims getting down on one knee in Dubai and asking Sam Faiers to marry him was like something straight out of a romantic Disney movie.

He told new! magazine: "It was like a Disney film, a fairy tale. I've been planning it for about two months, but I had it in my mind for a long time. It was one of the happiest days of my life.

"I sort of lured Sam into thinking it was going to happen when we go to Cape Town [later this year]. But obviously, it didn't. The proposal was turned around incredibly quickly."

The 22-year-old joker was overcome with nerves when the big moment came - which was caught on camera for the ITV2 show - but he insists he is proud of the way things unfolded.

Asked whether he had been worried Sam, 21, would refuse, he replied: "Nah, it wasn't that at all. But it was a big moment and I did it right! I'm proud of myself for that.

"I designed the ring all by myself. I picked the diamond and the band."

The reality show wouldn't be the same without James 'Arg' Argent performing one of his Frank Sinatra covers, and the star is confident he will be asked to sing at Joey and Sam's wedding.

Arg said: "I'd love to sing if they'll ask me. I'm sure they will. I'll sing whatever they want me to."
