Joey Essex hopes Sam Faiers will give their romance another chance

Joey Essex is hoping to rekindle his romance with The Only Way Is Essex co-star Sam Faiers.

The reality TV star told Now magazine he was shocked when the glamour model dumped him over the phone, and admitted he still loves her and hopes to win her back.

Joey said: "I've never fallen in love with a girl so quickly before. I know she feels the same way. She texted me the other day to say she still loves me. We still speak at least five times during the week."

But while Sam agrees she and Joey remain close, she sees them more as friends.

She wrote in her column in Star magazine: "Me and Joey spoke this week about our split. We met up on Thursday and had a little cuddle and chat, which was nice.

"I think we will be fine. He is a great guy, and we understand each other. I am really proud of him. He will do well for himself."

Joey revealed he felt the break-up came out of nowhere.

He said: "It just feels a bit random as it wasn't like we were going through a bad patch. It was just like, bang, out of the blue.

"I'd slept round her house the night before and everything was normal. She gave me a kiss on the lips, said she loved me and we had a cuddle before she left that morning."

He added: "She said she thought we needed to go on a break and asked me whether I felt the same. I told her to make her mind up but she was saying she didn't know what to do. I got a bit upset, as any boy would. It was a really weird phone call and I was pretty baffled out."
