Johansson turns weather girl

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson turned weather girl on US television on Tuesday morning.

The Lost in Translation star appeared on the Today show to promote her new film Hitchcock.

After she learned meteorologist Al Roker was suffering from laryngitis she offered to fill in.

"I have a lot of experience with weather, yes," she said when anchor Matt Lauer asked if she was up for the task.

After a commercial break she happily took over his duties.

"This is my dream come true," Scarlett said before taking the script.

The 28-year-old star then ran down the national weather forecast for the day complete with gestures toward the map behind her.

Scarlett even finished with Al's trademark line.

"Here's what's happening in your neck of the woods," Scarlett said as she handed the broadcast over to local weather reporters across the US.

Scarlett closed her debut as a weather forecaster with a jazzy pose.

The actress portrays Janet Leigh in the upcoming biopic Hitchcock.

Sacha Gervasi directs the adaptation of the Stephen Rebello book and takes place during the making of Hitchcock's horror classic Psycho.

The film, co-starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Jessica Biel, was released in US theatres this weekend.
