Johnny Depp has been revealed as the hotly-anticipated “secret guest star” in Jack and Jill.

The comedy is set for release later this year, and stars funnyman Adam Sandler as both halves of a set of boy/girl twins. There had been rumours circulating that Johnny had a small part in the film after he was photographed visiting the movie set, and it has now been confirmed the A-list star will make an appearance. The film’s director Dennis Dugan was initially reluctant to divulge the information, but his excitement eventually got the better of him.

"There's a secret guest star, but I can't say who it is," Dennis told MTV at the premiere of Adam’s latest comedy Just Go With It, before splurging the truth; “[It’s] Johnny Depp."

The director confirmed he was not teasing when journalists suspected the revelation was a prank, although he refused to give any more information on the cameo.

Dennis also discussed Adam’s cross-dressing in the movie, which tells the story of a family man living in Los Angeles who receives a visit from his twin sister from the Bronx and she overstays her welcome. The director joked that Adam doesn’t make a particularly attractive lady, laughing that gorgeous Just Go with It star Brooklyn Decker has no competition in the beauty stakes.

"Not Brooklyn Decker in Just Go with It,” laughed Dennis when asked what Adam looked like as a female.
