Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have teamed up on a track for her new album.

The American actor split from the French singer-and-actress in 2012 after a 14-year romance. Neither has spoken about the reasons for the break-up and it's thought they have remained civil for the sake of their children Lily-Rose and Jack.

The strength of their friendship has now been revealed, with the news Johnny appears on Vanessa's new record.

Her album Love Songs is due out next month and includes the track New Year. Credits on the LP state the song is the work of Vanessa, Johnny and their daughter, as well as Ruth Ellsworth Carter.

At the moment there is no further information about the track and when it was recorded is unknown.

Vanessa, 40, is looking forward to hearing feedback about her record and has hinted it includes some very personal lyrics.

"Of course in the disc, you could see the genesis of what has happened to me in my private life ... But it can apply to everyone on the planet, right? " she told Liberation Next magazine recently. "But what do they want to know? If escaping [from my private life] provided a record, a film, it's great, right?"

It seems her new living arrangements have provided Vanessa with less inspiration. She has relocated to Los Angeles with her children and misses living in France.

"I've been in Paris for 40 years and I still find it amazing. And Los Angeles is a city where one can feel very alone," she explained. "Well, I'm not drunk with [excitement for it but the schools] are creative institutions, where we encourage the practice of film, music, sport."

Last year it was reported that Johnny had splashed out $4.4 million on a home in Hollywood for Vanessa.
