Johnny Depp wows as Black Keys guest rocker

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp wowed the audience at last night's MTV Movie Awards when he performed with rock duo The Black Keys.

The actor was heaped with praise from celebrity fans and Black Keys members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney themselves for his stint as a guest rocker.

The Hollywood legend had been awarded with the MTV Generation trophy for his contributions to the film industry and for entertaining generations throughout his career and chose to perform a song instead of delivering a traditional thank you speech.

Strapping on his guitar, Johnny rocked the house as he strummed his way through the band's classic hit Gold on The Ceiling.

"Yeah that's our normal lives, hanging out with rock stars and movie stars, you know. It was actually a little boring," The Black Keys jokingly told MTV after their performance. "No joke. He's a really good guitar player."

The Dark Shadows actor didn't just impress the musicians. A number of stars discussed his spirited performance on social networking site Twitter.

"Loved Johnny Depp's performance with @TheBlackKeys #Epic! Such a #Legend," Paris Hilton tweeted.

Khloé Kardashian also enjoyed the star's rock star cameo.

"Johnny Depp can do no wrong LOL" she wrote.
