Jonas’ cancelled tour ‘could cost millions’

The Jonas Brothers

Jonas Brothers could be “on the hook” with the insurance company that underwrote their cancelled tour, according to a new report.

A spokesperson for the pop trio, comprised of Nick, 21, Joe, 24, and Kevin, 25, confirmed Wednesday the 19-day trek was axed due to "a deep rift within the band".

According to MTV News the Jonas’ reason for cancelling is unlikely to satisfy insurers and they could be “on the hook for millions”.

"It really depends on how their [insurance] policy is tailored, but generally speaking, there are cancellation policies that cover things beyond their control," Carol Thornhill, executive vice president at celebrity insurance broker Robertson Taylor, told the outlet.

"If they cancelled because they had a rift within the band, that's something that's not insurable, because that's within their control... There is no insurance that is going to respond to something that is within their control.”

As MTV reports, artists often need insurance to protect themselves against liabilities, but plans differ depending how much protection is needed.

Insurance Journal Editor-in-Chief Andrea Wells thinks one “could assume” the cancellation may cost the band.

“When an artist just doesn't have a particular reason [for cancelling a tour] that's listed within the policy form, the insurer can deny it, and there's a good chance they will. The promoter can certainly appeal that, and it can go to the legal system — that definitely happens in most cases,” she said.

The Jonas Brothers’ representatives and the band’s tour promoter Live Nation have not yet publicly commented on the report.

According to America’s People magazine, ticket holders for the cancelled tour will have their money refunded.

Jonas Brothers spokesman Jesse Derris told People it “remains to be seen” whether the siblings will make new music together in the future.

Aries:

You will have to defer to others, which makes you anxious. There's never any problem when you're in control. You know how to act quickly and decisively. When others are at the helm, progress grinds to a halt. People deliberate endlessly over simple matters. Instead of putting pressure on the person in charge, make a strategic retreat. If you act like you don't care about the outcome of a situation, they won't be paralysed with uncertainty. You have a tendency to make people nervous.More
