Jordan: Rihanoff won’t leave Strictly

James Jordan has accused his former Strictly Come Dancing co-star Kristina Rihanoff of playing the “Feel sorry for me card” after she claimed she had considered leaving the show.

Kristina recently revealed she was so upset over rumours surrounding her friendship with rugby star Ben Cohen she had considered leaving the BBC TV show. However, James has accused his former co-star of trying to generate public sympathy.

“There’s no way she would quit the show, that’s a fact. We can all play the innocent card, the ‘Feel sorry for me’ card, that’s easy,” James told British newspaper The Sun. “Trust me, she won’t leave Strictly.”

BBC bosses have insisted the 37-year-old blonde beauty will “100 per cent” return for the new season of the popular show later this year.

Kristina, nicknamed the Siberian Siren, was partnered with hunky Ben in the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing. Rumours about the nature of their relationship flared when the sports star split from his wife Abby while filming the show. He has also been spotted leaving Kristina’s apartment recently, sparking rumours he had stayed the night.

This isn’t the first time Kristina’s love life has hit the headlines. She began dating boxer Joe Calzaghe after they were paired together for the 2009 series of Strictly. Joe ditched his girlfriend after falling for Kristina and they remained together until 2013.

James, who is married to stunning Strictly dancer Ola, can understand why people often fall in love when they dance together.

“Dancing is very passionate and you’re touching in places out of the norm. I get jealous sometimes, especially when Ola is on the show and dancing with someone good-looking,” he admitted.

“It’s normal to get jealous but there’s a line and when it goes past it, it can get nasty.”

Ola sparked concern for her career earlier this year after she was involved in an accident while training for Channel 4 show The Jump. The 32-year-old dancer feared she would never walk again after injuring her knee. However, she now plans to rejoin Strictly in the autumn and is working hard to regain her fitness and confidence.

“My knee is getting back to normal and I’m starting to dance once more,” Ola told TV Biz. "But now it’s a mental battle — I’m scared I’ll injure it again.”
